100% In-House Manufactured

Ultramarine Blue & Violet

High-Performance PB 29 & PV 15

Manali Pigments is a 100% in-house manufacturer of ultramarine blue pigment (Pigment Blue 29) and ultramarine violet pigment (Pigment Violet 15), delivering exceptional color purity, superior heat stability, and strict batch-to-batch consistency. Our ultramarine pigments are produced under complete manufacturing control—from high-temperature calcination through precision milling—supporting the brilliant reddish-blue and violet shades required by plastics, detergent, and coatings manufacturers worldwide.

What Are Ultramarine Pigments?

Ultramarine pigments are synthetic inorganic colorants based on a complex sodium alumino-sulfosilicate crystal structure. Their color is generated by sulfur species contained within the aluminosilicate lattice, producing the characteristic blue and violet shades.

Pigment Blue 29 (PB 29) provides a brilliant reddish-blue shade, while Pigment Violet 15 (PV 15) is produced through controlled treatment of the ultramarine structure to create a distinct violet hue. Grade-specific ultramarine pigments are used for direct coloration and optical correction in plastics, coatings, detergent formulations, inks and other industrial systems. Heat, light, chemical, migration and regulatory suitability must be confirmed against the selected grade's Technical Data Sheet, Safety Data Sheet, formulation and destination-market requirements.

The Manali Manufacturing Advantage

Unlike pigment traders or distributors who source ultramarine from third-party factories, Manali Pigments manufactures 100% of its ultramarine pigments in-house. For procurement managers and export traders, this complete vertical integration supports supply-chain security and consistent quality control.

Our "Complete Control, Complete Quality" approach governs the production chain, including raw-material preparation, calcination, washing and precision milling. Control of these stages supports particle-size distribution, shade and tinting-strength consistency for industrial color matching. Our internal ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system governs production from raw-material intake to dispatch. As a Government of India recognized STAR EXPORT HOUSE, we also maintain export experience across multiple international markets.

Featured Ultramarine Grades

Ultramarine pigment shade comparison from light and deep PB 29 blue to Pigment Violet 15

Plastics & Masterbatch Grades (PB 29)

Engineered for plastics processing, these ultramarine blue pigment grades support consistent dispersion in polyolefin, PVC and selected engineering-polymer systems. Depending on the formulation, they can provide direct coloration and optical correction of yellow undertones in white, light-colored and recycled plastics. Confirm processing temperature and polymer compatibility against the grade-specific TDS.

Detergent & Laundry Grades (PB 29)

These PB 29 grades are formulated for controlled dispersion in detergent powder or compatible aqueous systems. Used as "laundry blue," ultramarine provides a blue counter-shade that can reduce the visual perception of yellowing in textiles. Particle-size, purity, formulation compatibility and intended consumer use must be confirmed for the selected grade.

Coatings & Ink Grades (PB 29)

These ultramarine grades provide a clean reddish-blue shade for compatible architectural paints, industrial coatings and printing-ink systems. Final bleeding, migration, alkaline stability, weather resistance and vehicle compatibility depend on the selected grade and formulation and must be verified through application testing.

Ultramarine Violet (PV 15)

Pigment Violet 15 provides a violet shade for compatible plastics, coatings, inks and color-correction applications. It can be used to counter yellow cast in white formulations or to develop blue-violet shades. Confirm heat, light, migration, formulation and regulatory suitability against the selected grade documentation.

Key Technical Specifications & Benefits

Ultramarine pigments combine inorganic color with application-specific performance. Use the following as selection criteria, with final values confirmed against the chosen grade's Technical Data Sheet and application testing.

  • Heat Performance: Selected PB 29 and PV 15 grades are designed for elevated-temperature plastics and coatings processes; confirm the maximum temperature and dwell time for the specific grade.
  • Light and Weather Performance: Select the grade according to substrate, binder, pigment loading and exposure conditions.
  • Migration and Bleeding: Validate non-migration and non-bleeding behavior in the actual polymer, solvent, binder or detergent system.
  • Optical Correction: PB 29 can counter yellow undertones in compatible white and light-colored plastics, coatings, detergents and textiles.
  • Regulatory Suitability: Food-contact, toy, cosmetic, personal-care and consumer-product use requires grade-specific declarations and destination-market review.

Industry Applications

Manali Pigments' ultramarine blue and violet grades support five core industrial sectors. In plastics and masterbatch, selected grades provide direct coloration and optical correction in compatible polyolefin, PVC and engineering-polymer systems. For laundry detergents, appropriate PB 29 grades provide the traditional blue counter-shade used to reduce the visual appearance of yellowing. In architectural and industrial coatings, printing inks and rubber products, grade selection must account for the binder or polymer, processing temperature, migration, weathering, chemical exposure and destination-market requirements.

Global Demand & Ultramarine Market Trends

Demand for Ultramarine Blue PB 29 is supported by detergent and home-care formulations that use a blue counter-shade and by plastics applications requiring blue coloration or yellow-tone correction. Recycled-plastics growth also increases interest in grades designed for color correction in compatible polymer streams. Manali Pigments supports customers across more than 15 countries, including the USA, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Korea and the UAE, subject to grade availability and destination-market requirements.
