100% In-House Manufactured

Phthalocyanine Blue & Green

High-Performance PB 15 & PG 7

Manali Pigments manufactures copper phthalocyanine pigments entirely in-house—from crude synthesis and crystal modification to final milling—delivering consistent, high-strength PB 15, PG 7 and PG 36 grades for printing inks, plastics, masterbatch and industrial coatings worldwide.

What Are Copper Phthalocyanine Pigments?

Copper phthalocyanine is a synthetic organic pigment complex built around a central copper atom coordinated within a phthalocyanine macrocycle. It is one of the most important colorant chemistries in industrial manufacturing, producing brilliant blue and green shades with unmatched durability.

Pigment Blue 15 (PB 15) is the unmodified copper phthalocyanine, offering intense blue coloration across multiple crystal modifications. When the copper phthalocyanine molecule is halogenated—by introducing chlorine atoms—it produces Pigment Green 7 (PG 7), a bright blue-shade green. Further bromination yields Pigment Green 36 (PG 36), a brilliant yellow-shade green. Together, these copper phthalocyanine pigments provide the highest levels of lightfastness, chemical resistance, and thermal stability available in the organic pigment class, making them indispensable for industrial coatings, plastics and masterbatch, printing inks, and textile applications.

The Manali Manufacturing Advantage

Unlike pigment traders or formulators who source copper phthalocyanine crude from third-party suppliers, Manali Pigments manufactures 100% of its phthalocyanine pigments entirely in-house. For procurement managers and export traders, this complete vertical integration translates directly into supply chain security and uncompromising quality.

Our "Complete Control, Complete Quality" approach begins at the molecular level: we synthesize copper phthalocyanine crude from phthalic anhydride, urea, and copper salts within our own facility. This crude is then processed through proprietary pigmentation and milling stages where we exercise strict control over crystal modification—whether alpha (reddish-blue) or beta (greenish-blue)—and apply stabilization treatments to prevent flocculation and crystallization. The result is guaranteed batch-to-batch consistency for critical industrial color matching, a requirement that traders sourcing from multiple factories simply cannot fulfil. Our internal ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system governs every step from raw material intake to final product dispatch. Furthermore, as a recognized Government of India STAR EXPORT HOUSE, we possess the proven global logistics capability to deliver reliable phthalocyanine pigment solutions to over 15 countries without interruption.

Every batch is controlled under our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system from raw-material intake through final dispatch, supporting dependable crystal modification, particle-size control and batch consistency.

Featured Phthalocyanine Blue Grades (Alpha vs. Beta)

Copper phthalocyanine blue exists in two primary crystal modifications: Alpha (reddish-blue) and Beta (greenish-blue/cyan). The choice between modifications depends on the specific application requirements for shade, stability, and rheological behaviour.

Phthalocyanine PB 15 alpha reddish blue beta greenish cyan and PG 7 shade comparison

Pigment Blue 15:0 & 15:1 (Alpha Modification)

Reddish-blue shades with high tinting strength. Pigment Blue 15:0 is the standard unstabilized alpha form, while Pigment Blue 15:1 is stabilized against crystallization, preventing undesirable shade shifts during storage or processing. Both grades are ideal for plastics, masterbatch, and general industrial coatings where a warmer blue tone is preferred.

Pigment Blue 15:2 (Alpha Modification)

A reddish-blue shade that is highly stabilized against both crystallization and flocculation. Pigment Blue 15:2 represents the premium choice for automotive OEM coatings and high-end industrial paints where maximum rheological stability and consistent color development are non-negotiable requirements.

Pigment Blue 15:3 (Beta Modification)

A greenish-blue shade universally recognized as the global standard for process cyan in printing inks—including offset, flexographic, and gravure systems. Pigment Blue 15:3 is the most widely used phthalocyanine blue pigment in the world, valued for its clean shade, excellent transparency, and outstanding lightfastness. It is also extensively used in plastics and water-based coatings.

Pigment Blue 15:4 (Beta Modification)

A greenish-blue shade specifically stabilized against flocculation. Pigment Blue 15:4 is engineered for solvent-based liquid inks and demanding coating applications where resistance to flocculation in aromatic solvent systems is critical for maintaining color strength and gloss.

Featured Phthalocyanine Green Grades

Pigment Green 7 (PG 7)

A fully chlorinated copper phthalocyanine delivering a bright, blue-shade green with outstanding overall fastness properties. Pigment Green 7 offers exceptional heat stability (280°C+), making it suitable for the most demanding plastic extrusion and masterbatch applications. It is universally applied across printing inks, plastics, industrial coatings, and textile printing where maximum durability is required.

Pigment Green 36 (PG 36)

A brominated and chlorinated copper phthalocyanine producing a highly brilliant, yellow-shade green. Pigment Green 36 offers superior weather resistance and a cleaner, more vivid shade compared to PG 7. It is the preferred choice for high-end automotive coatings, architectural finishes, and premium plastic applications where a warmer green tone and exceptional outdoor durability are essential.
