100% In-House Manufactured
Chrome Oxide Green
High-Performance Pigment Green 17
Manali Pigments manufactures premium Chrome Oxide Green (Pigment Green 17) entirely in-house, delivering a stable and durable green pigment for extreme industrial environments. With heat resistance up to 1000°C, absolute lightfastness and chemical inertness, chromium oxide green pigment supports heavy-duty coatings, ceramics, refractories and construction materials.
What Is Chromium Oxide Green Pigment?
Chromium oxide green pigment—classified as Pigment Green 17 (PG 17) with the chemical formula Cr2O3—is a highly stable inorganic pigment produced through high-temperature calcination of chromium compounds. Its dense chromium(III) oxide crystal structure gives chrome oxide green pigment strong durability and chemical stability.
Unlike organic green pigments such as Phthalocyanine Green (PG 7), which provide brilliant transparency and high tinting strength, Pigment Green 17 provides absolute opacity, a matte finish and resistance to heat, light and aggressive chemicals. It is therefore selected for ceramic pigment, refractory pigment, industrial coating and construction applications where long-term stability is more important than decorative brilliance.
The Manali Manufacturing Advantage
Manali Pigments manufactures 100% of its chrome oxide green entirely in-house—from raw material preparation through high-temperature calcination to final precision milling. This Uncompromising Durability, 100% In-House Controlled approach gives the production team control over the parameters that determine shade, opacity, tinting strength and particle-size distribution.
Manali controls kiln temperatures, residence times and atmospheric conditions during calcination, then controls washing, drying and precision milling. This supports consistent particle size and batch-to-batch shade performance. The internal ISO 9001:2015 quality-management system governs production, while STAR EXPORT HOUSE recognition supports reliable international delivery.

Industry Applications: Beyond Standard Coatings
Chrome oxide green pigment serves industries where organic pigments may not survive. In heavy-duty industrial coatings, PG 17 supports permanent green coloration for coil coatings, marine paints, chemical-resistant tank linings and bridge maintenance coatings. In engineering plastics, its heat stability supports high-temperature processing of polymers such as PEEK, PPS and polyimide.
In ceramics and glass, chromium oxide green pigment supports kiln firing, ceramic glazes, porcelain and glass coloration. In refractory applications, heat resistance and chemical stability support refractory bricks and furnace linings. In construction materials, PG 17 provides durable green coloration for concrete, roofing tiles, paving blocks and exterior renders. Its Mohs hardness of 8.5 also supports abrasive and polishing applications.
